Stathis’s making resides at the convergence of conceptual art, ceramics and concrete poetry. He works predominately with clay, found objects, text fragments and verses that he writes or borrows. By playfully assembling and layering material & conceptual elements, he tries to create paradoxical objects and metaphorical associations.

Stathis was a finalist for the Royal Society of Sculptors Public Art Award 2015, the National Sculpture Prize 2016 and the Ashurst Emerging Artist Prize 2016. He has participated in Ceramic Biennials in Aveiro (Portugal), in Kapfenberg (Austria) in Cluj (Romania), in Westerwald (Germany) and in Alcora (Spain). His work is included in public and private collections in UK, Portugal, Germany, France and Greece. He has recently exhibited at the London Group Open 2023, the ING Discerning Eye 2022 & 2023 and shortlisted in the Art Gemini Awards 2025. He is a member of the London Group, the Royal Society of Sculptors and performs and collaborates at the European Poetry Festival.

Stathis has long experience in teaching ceramics in adult learning centers.

Analogue

Delighted to be selected in the 'Analogue', a @hyphacurates selling exhibition curated by @s_elson

Digital systems dominate our lives with a logic that thrives on precision and quantification. The artists here propose the analogue not as a refuge from the digital, but as a mirror to its limitations. Ambiguity, embodied making, and sustained attention may be our most valuable forms of knowledge.
