Stathis Dimitriadis’ sculptures explore the borderline area between two realms; the liminal state of suspension between the known and the unknown, between the expected and the unexpected. They deal with this situation of paradox and ambiguity that helps us accept change as a fundamental element of life.
During the making process the concepts of transition and metamorphosis are expressed with actions of twisting, breaking, displacing, inverting and distorting. Contrasting texture and colour challenge our concept of ordinary and surprise our senses. Objects refer to life forms that transform, break and depart. They are records of an alteration process and metaphors of our transitory existence.
